WWE Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles was recently on his Twitch video talk. He talked about one Hall of Famer he would like to face before his retirement.
The Phenomenal One made his WWE debut in 2016 and since then has had many fantasy matches. Since his debut, he has locked horns with the likes of The Undertaker, John Cena and Randy Orton, three of the biggest the company has to offer.

AJ Styles wants this particular match very badly
Just a day ago, The Phenomenal One expressed his desire to face The Rated ‘R’ Superstar before both of them retired. Check out this wish in his own voice.
AJ Styles: "I've got to have a match with Edge before him and I both retire. I think that's something that we both want. That's one that I want badly, and I think that he would like to have one as well. It would be great. I'm still looking forward to it, Edge."

AJ Styles is one of the greatest – not only in WWE but all over the world. Many fans and experts claim that Styles is the best in-ring performer after Shawn Micheals.
Before joining WWE, seeing his work all over the world, fans wanted him to face many WWE superstars. We could write a whole new story on his possible dream matches.
The Phenomenal One can walk into any match and make it a dream/ fantasy match, that’s the man’s pedigree. However, this time, Styles has himself asked for this match. It will be interesting to see if WWE can do an Edge vs AJ Styles feud in the future.
Current WWE status of Styles and Edge
AJ Styles, as mentioned, has expressed his wish to face Edge. However, this looks impossible currently. AJ Styles works Fridays on SmackDown and Edge works Monday nights on RAW.
Currently, Edge is not on WWE television. He returned at the Royal Rumble 2020 and started a feud with Randy Orton as soon as he eliminated the latter.
The two would face-off in a last man standing match on the first night of WrestleMania 36. Edge would defeat Orton after returning to WrestleMania after nine years.
The two would then face at Backlash in the greatest wrestling match ever. Orton would go over, injuring Edge in the process. Edge hasn’t been seen since.
As for AJ Styles, he is currently the Intercontinental Champion. Week after week, The Phenomenal One defends his title in open challenges.

Styles hasen’t been in an intense rivalry for a long long time. A shortage of Superstars could be a good reason.

With both the Superstars being on different brands, WWE will have to plan their match a good 6-8 months in advance. As fans, we can only hope it happens in a 100 k filled stadium at WrestleMania.
