At the post-Backlash press conference, Cody Rhodes revealed that L.A. Knight is a talent he wants to battle to see who truly is “the man”. The American Nightmare said, “LA Knight is somebody that I look at because — I get it, ‘they’re two good guys.’ I understand that. But there’s a flavor there. There’s something about it.”

LA Knight hasn’t been part of the Backlash card, though he was on the verge of becoming a part of it. But it was precisely AJ Styles who deprived him of being on the show after defeating him on SmackDown for a title opportunity against Rhodes.
