Despite his loss at WrestleMania 39, Cody Rhodes is one of the biggest stars in the WWE right now. The night after WrestleMania saw Rhodes establish his new feud against Brock Lesnar. The two gave it their all before ending it at SummerSlam 2023, with Rhodes standing victorious. So, now what? Who is next? According to one WWE legend, it should be the head of the game.

As Rhodes is looking for his title shot and revenge against Roman Reigns and the Bloodline, one WWE legend claims he knows who the final hurdle for Rhodes is before Reigns.

Bully Ray, one-half of the Dudley Boyz, is now a revered voice of professional wrestling. Working in the industry since 1991, Ray has the knowledge and insight that fans love to hear about. While on the Busted Open podcast, the question of what is next for Cody Rhodes was brought up.

Ray began by talking about that one star who could be the final hurdle for Rhodes. “There is one guy out there, that there is a real-life story with, that could be the final hurdle for Cody before he gets to Roman,” he said. This is in the context of Rhodes being the biggest babyface in the company and being set up for a massive win at the next WrestleMania.

According to Ray, this person should be Triple H. He went on explain that the reason for this is Hunter’s massive amount of resentment for Rhodes in terms of a storyline. This is mainly because Rhodes left the WWE to create AEW as a rival promotion, only to return to the WWE once again. During his AEW tenure, Rhodes infamously destroyed Triple H’s throne with a sledgehammer.

In Ray’s words, this would be a one-match where Triple H could be a bigger heel than Brock Lesnar. While the idea is brilliant from a storytelling perspective, Ray also admitted that The Game is not cleared for in-ring matches. He also mentioned that Triple H has a heart condition that would easily prevent this angle from being used.

Could Triple H feud with Rhodes without getting involved in a match?

Before Rhodes faced off against Lesnar at Night of Champions, Triple H had a backstage segment with Rhodes. He tried to talk Rhodes out of the match due to his arm injury. However, Rhodes rejected the proposal. This has raised the question of whether a feud between the two could go down.

Bill Apter also weighed his two cents on the matter of a feud between the two. According to the veteran journalist, The Game could call up a younger star like Austin Theory. This would ensure Triple H gets to cut promos and have interactions with Rhodes while Theory takes care of in-ring work. As mentioned earlier, The Game is not cleared for in-ring work. It will be very difficult for him to get involved in heavy in-ring action, but as we know he could very play the role of an authority heel figure.
