John Cena is set to star alongside Priyanka Chopra and Idris Elba for the first time ever. The WWE icon-turned-Hollywood actor was spotted in Liverpool with Idris Elba just weeks before his WWE appearance. The film’s production was underway but abruptly stalled due to the Hollywood strike.
The strike came about after Screen Actors Guild failed to negotiate a new labor agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The SAG-AFTRA (American Federation of TV and Radio Artists) strike will reportedly prevent actors from participating in the production of any film anywhere until the strike is lifted.
In addition, the actors will not be allowed to promote their work at San Diego Comic-Con. The writers’ union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) failed to reach an agreement, leading SAG-AFTRA to join the strike. The Writer’s Guild of America first went on strike in May, insisting that they be provided protection against the use of AI and be paid higher.
Furthermore, the strike will now affect Barbie, which features a cameo by John Cena. In the film, John Cena is said to play Dua Lipa’s love interest as a merman.
Nonetheless, it appears that the production of the Head of State will be delayed. According to reports, people in the know are claiming that Hollywood will remain closed until early September.
It is likely John Cena will not be involved in any more Hollywood projects until the strike is lifted. The question now arises whether he will return to WWE. Although he may make more appearances in WWE, it is highly unlikely that he will compete.
John Cena was recently spotted in a behind-the-scenes video alongside Priyanka Chopra and Idris Elba
Ilya Naishuller’s action film began production in May. John Cena took to social media to thank Amazon Studios for gathering a fine team for the project in April.
In a video circulating on social media, John Cena is seen engaging in a casual conversation behind the scenes amidst the filming of the Head of State. The Peacemaker actor is sporting a white shirt and a red tie. On the other hand, Idris Elba looks sharp in all black while Priyanka Chopra is seen wearing a casual grey top with a matching pair of pants.

Overall, Hollywood’s fight against the use of artificial intelligence in films does not appear to be coming to an end anytime soon. We will have to wait and see if the strike concludes in September, as predicted by experts.
