Earlier this month, the WWE confirmed its sale to UFC’s parent company Endeavor. The deal will merge both UFC and WWE to form a $21 billion sports entertainment company. The news became a topic for discussion as soon as it was announced. Several past and present stars reacted to it, including two-time WWE Hall of Fame Booker T.

Appearing on his Hall of Fame podcast, King Booker quipped he had already asked for a raise following the sale. Now, the NXT commentator has hit out at media houses for falling prey to his joke.

The six-time World Champion clarified his earlier comments after several publications reported that he wanted a raise after the WWE-UFC merger.

Booker T had said, “I already asked for a raise, alright? Let’s move on,” on the podcast, but downplayed it as a joke in a later episode.

“Man, if I say this, they’re gonna say Booker T is backtracking. That was sarcasm, guys. I didn’t actually go in when the merger happened and go ‘Where is my raise?’ That’s just stupid,” the WWE legend said.

“Ah, there’s some stupid people out there. I could not believe that made the headlines, because if anybody thought I was serious, it just makes me wonder about these guys and how they are making their money,” the 58-year-old added.

The winner of the 2006 King of the Ring tournament had said in his previous podcast that the merger brought him a “little bit closer to something” that he loves. “I need tickets to every UFC big show. I mean, you know, I want to be in the media scrums,” he had said. Now, he has clarified that it was a joke as he can get tickets on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, another WWE Hall of Famer revealed an interesting story while reacting to the aforementioned merger.

Kurt Angle terms UFC-WWE merger as ‘ridiculous’

Not just Booker T, WWE legend Kurt Angle also shared his views on the merger. In fact, Angle made a stunning revelation on his Kurt Angle Show podcast while calling the merger “ridiculous”.

The former WWE champion said, “…when you were wrestling; you weren’t allowed to dabble with UFC, UFC weren’t allowed to dabble with WWE.”

The reason, according to the WWE Hall of Famer, was none other than UFC boss Dana White. “…Dana White didn’t want anybody under WWE contract that was in UFC.”

However, Dana White has said he has no problems with UFC talents trying their luck in pro wrestling. In the past, Ronda Rousey successfully moved to the WWE to start a pro-wrestling career in 2018.
