Over the years, WWE icon John Cena has had some epic rivalries with numerous superstars in the promotion. These have helped the 16-time world champion reach the pinnacle of pro wrestling. His impressive feats and milestones also set him apart from being just another Ohio Valley Wrestling graduate. Even at 46, now as a part-timer, Cena has engaged in a new blockbuster rivalry. As per the current storyline, the former WWE Champion is at loggerheads with Solo Sikoa.

The 30-year-old Bloodline member is another fruit from the Anoa’i tree that just keeps on giving. Cena, who has had feuds with other members of the Samoan clan, has spoken about Sikoa’s resemblance to a deceased WWE legend.

As a guest on WWE’s The Bump show recently, Cena spoke about a series of issues regarding wrestling. One of his topics of discussion was Solo Sikoa. “Solo is a bit of a conundrum, but when I see him and I see him perform, I think of the hard-fought battles I had with Umaga and the parallels,” Cena said. Umaga, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 36, gained notoriety as one of Cena’s hallowed rivals.

While they squared off in only six matches- three of which were singles competition- in between 2006 and 2008, the duo left an impression in the minds of pro wrestling fans. It was Cena who ended Umaga’s red-hot unbeaten streak at the New Year’s Revolution 2007.

Later that month, in January, the duo went toe-to-toe in a Last Man Standing match at the 2007 Royal Rumble. The WWE Universe considers that match as the best bout in the said stipulation. So, how are Umaga and Solo Sikoa- both from the same family- related?

Solo Sikoa is Umaga’s nephew. Sikoa’s father, Rikishi, is the real-life brother of Umaga. So, it isn’t surprising for John Cena, who has faced both Sikoa and Umaga, to spot the similarities.

Cena likely to face Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel

John Cena and Umaga had met in two premium live events, as mentioned above. Both ended in a victory for the greatest of all time. Now, there is a concrete belief that Cena will face Solo Sikoa in a singles match at Crown Jewel. The Saudi Arabia-specific PLE will take place on November 4.

The Hollywood star is likely to lose the match and put his younger peer over if the match becomes official. Back in 2007, as a 30-year-old, Cena was at the top of his game and the face of the promotion, who was earmarked by the top brass. All these years later, the tables have turned.

It is time for the icon to give back to the company and he is likely to give impetus to Solo Sikoa’s career by losing to him. Sikoa is also rumored to have a mid-card title run and a win against John Cena will lend credibility to his run like no other.

Based on conventions, fans can expect the result as stated above. However, the result is not set in stone as various other factors could also influence the outcome. That said, Crown Jewel is also likely to be John Cena’s last WWE appearance this year. He has already had an extended run due to the Hollywood strikes. Now that they are getting over, Cena would return to pursue his acting career.
