Dwayne Johnson and John Cena, in their own right, are two of the greatest wrestlers of all time in WWE. Both wrestling legends are sure-fire future Hall of Famers. However, John Cena has arguably had a more decorated WWE career due to the brevity of The Rock’s run in WWE. On the other hand, Johnson is enjoying an unrivaled Hollywood career.

Although the 16-time World Champion has now followed in Dwayne Johnson’s footsteps to carve out a respectable Hollywood career, he is far behind the latter in terms of earnings from film projects. For John Cena to reach the heights that Johnson has reached in Hollywood is, at this point, inconceivable. After all, The Hollywood mogul is one of the highest-paid actors in the world. 

John Cena’s highest salary from his Hollywood career pales in comparison to Dwayne Johnson’s

John Cena made his Fast & Furious debut in 2021. The WWE icon-turned-Hollywood actor played the role of Jakob Torreto, who is the estranged brother of Dominic Torreto (Vin Diesel). It’s important to note that at the time, Dwayne Johnson had left the F&F franchise due to his conflict with Vin Diesel. But John Cena did justice to his role and reprised it in the recently released Fast X. 

According to Showbiz Galore, John Cena was the fifth highest-paid actor in the Fast 9 cast, making a whopping $1 Million. Fast 9 was also John Cena’s highest paycheck from his Hollywood career. Fast 9 grossed over $704 Million globally.

Although the Peacemaker actor is making a fortune in Hollywood, he is far behind what Dwayne Johnson makes from his movies. According to the newsletter of Puck journalist Matthew Belloni, Dwayne Johnson earned a record-breaking $50 million for his role while filming his upcoming actioner, ‘Red One.’ This is the biggest payday an actor has ever made for a single role in Hollywood.

The Amazon Studios Original film Johnson and Chris Evans is slated to be released in December. The disparity in Johnson and Cena’s paychecks only goes to show how influential Dwayne Johnson is in Hollywood.

Nevertheless, while John Cena made his emotional exit from the Fast and Furious franchise, Dwayne Johnson made his return. 

Dwayne Johnson earned nearly as much as his two co-stars combined in Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw

In 2019, Dwayne Johnson starred in The Fast & Furious franchise’s spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw. The film saw Johnson sharing the screen with Jason Statham and Idris Elba. In the film, Johnson and Statham team up with Vanessa Kirby to take down a cyber-genetic terrorist (Idris Elba) whose goal is to wipe out the world with a deadly virus.

According to reports, Dwayne Johnson earned an astonishing $20 Million from the film. Meanwhile, Statham and Elba made $13 Million and $8 million, respectively.  

The film failed to garner as much attention as other F&F films despite being the eleventh-highest-grossing project of 2019. Nonetheless, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw grossed $760 Million worldwide.
