After Being Brock Lesnar’s Advocate for Years, Paul Heyman Opens Up About His Confident Side as the “Beast Tamer”

Brock Lesnar has been a walking force of destruction for the majority of his combat sports career. But would most of that success be possible if Paul Heyman did not come around? Some fans might agree after looking at the excellent work Lesnar has done with ‘Cowboy Brock’. However, a young Lesnar would not have become “The Next Big Thing” without Heyman’s association.

Why did Paul Heyman call himself “The Beast Tamer?”

Brock Lesnar burst on the scene in WWE in 2002 with Paul Heyman acting as his manager. He guided young Lesnar to the top, becoming a marquee star for the company within a short duration. When the Beast Incarnate returned to the company in 2012, Heyman wasted no time and aligned himself back with him.

Since then, Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar have worked well together for years. Not only professionally, but both are close friends in personal life as well. The years of close partnership with the former UFC champion and the ability to be extremely confident in his presence made Heyman declare a bold proclamation.

He claimed that he was ‘The Beast tamer’ who had control over Lesnar’s fury. He reasoned that it was because of the respect both individuals have for each other. Heyman spoke about his close association during an interview on the Tetragrammaton with Rick Rubin podcast.

Paul said: “I am the Beast tamer … I am the one that the lion loves … I can put my head in the lion’s mouth … with no problem and by the way if just in case someone wants to f**k with me, it’s my lion and he loves me … and if you f**k with me, I am gonna look at my lion and go … sick’em and he is going to tear you apart.”

He continued: “My client Brock Lesnar, client … we are tied in this manner … he comes to me, he hires me, he respects me, he laughs at my jokes, he listens to my guidance, he pays me.”

Paul Heyman’s confidence was on full display each time he delivered scratching promos on behalf of his client. Nevertheless, their fruitful partnership ran its course in WWE after WrestleMania 36.

How did Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman’s close partnership come to an end?

The well-renowned partnership of Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman came to an end right after WrestleMania 36. With the onset of the pandemic, Lesnar wrestled his last match and left the company, believing to have retired right after.

The Beast’s exit left Paul Heyman in a pool of obscurity until Roman Reigns came back in 2020 under a new demeanor. He decided to align himself with the legendary manager and rechristened him as his “Special Counsel.”

Since then, Heyman had majorly been on Roman’s side, even during his feud with Brock Lesnar, after he came back at WWE SummerSlam 2021. Although the duo reunited for a short while in 2022, it was short-lived as Heyman betrayed Lesnar to join back his Tribal Chief’s side.
