It seems that WWE NXT Superstar Pete Dunne will soon become a free agent. Apparently, his contract is set to expire soon, and he will possibly no longer be a part of WWE following SummerSlam 2021.
As of now, neither WWE nor Dunne have revealed any details about the situation. However, reports state that Dunne and WWE have not signed an extension to the contract.

Currently, the NXT star is working with Oney Lorcan and Ridge Holland in a stable. They are in a storyline with Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher.
Recently, Dunne worked in a promo where he claimed Holland, Ridge, and he were the three most dangerous men in all of WWE. In fact, he put out a challenge for anyone who thinks otherwise.
Considering he said they were the most dangerous in all of WWE, this could mean a shift to the main roster and feuding with the Superstars on Raw or SmackDown. However, if his contract is set to expire, it is doubtful WWE is planning to move him to the main roster.
On the other hand, the company can work a promo where he exits because of his contract. Following that, he makes a main roster debut. More details will be available following SummerSlam 2021.
Adam Cole could be another free agent
Prior to Dunne’s news, reports claimed that Adam Cole was going to be a free agent soon. In fact, Pete Dunne still has a contract with WWE NXT, Cole is working on an extended contract. His original contract has already expired.
It’s unknown if the company is going to let Adam Cole go. It’s important for the company to consider the consequences of losing a pro-wrestler like Cole.

Now, Cole has signed the extended contract instead of renewing his original contract because he needs time to think about what his next move should be. While he can shine at any other company, he has already built a base in WWE. Therefore, staying with the company makes more sense at this point.
However, his partner Britt Baker works with AEW, and that is a rising company as well.
