Kurt Angle will always be remembered as the first Olympic Gold Medalist to ever be signed to the WWE roster. But in 2021, WWE had another Olympian in their ranks as they signed 2020 Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson to the RAW brand.

While he is yet to make his WWE debut, he made a surprise appearance on NXT which got fans speculating that he might soon make his in-ring debut before the 2024 Olympics.

NXT appearance and WWE’s plans for Gable Steveson

Gable turned up on NXT’s Gold Rush as fans eagerly awaited to see what role he would play. There he agreed to train Eddie Thorpe for his forthcoming match against Gable’s real-life brother Damon Kemp.

All these are very evident signs that WWE is all prepared to use Gable’s services soon. This was also confirmed by acclaimed wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer who said on Wrestling Observer Radio that Steveson keeps being told that he’s very close to being used by WWE. He also added, “He’s got stuff he wants to do and now it’s a question of WWE clearing him.”

Further it was also reported by Ringside News that Gable Steveson is “in the plans,” of the WWE creative team.

Along with his Olympic Gold Medal, Gable also wants some other gold around his waist as seen recently on an Instagram post made by Roman Reigns.

Will Gable Steveson become the youngest Undisputed WWE Universal Champion?

Having shared almost the same background and laurel as The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar, fans are betting their money on Gable being “The Next Big Thing” in the WWE. And just as Lesnar became the youngest WWE Champion at 25, fans are theorizing that he might not hold that record for long.

The Tribal Chief recently posted a video with Paul Heyman on Instagram talking about the 2024 Paris Olympics. Gable quickly commented and threw out a challenge to Reigns, “Anyone? Anytime? Roman vs Gable in Paris?!”

This clearly goes to show that Gable is hungry to taste success in the WWE at a very early stage. And who better to pulverize in order to announce his dominance than The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns himself?
