The wrestling world was in shock when Malakai Black aka Aleister Black from WWE showed up in AEW just after a few days after his release from the former.
Black debuted in NXT in April 2017 where he defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas, putting on some splendid matches for the brand with the likes of Neville, Adam Cole, and many others.
By April 2018, Black won the NXT champion, it was a rollercoaster ride for the former NXT champion, and recently he mentioned that he feels like WWE rushed him into the title picture.

Malakai Black confesses he had a bittersweet relation with his NXT Championship reign
Speaking with Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Black talked about this time in WWE and later on, mention his reign as the NXT champion.
He said that he had a discussion with the creative team that it was kind of strange that the authorities are putting the belt on him so early in his NXT run. (H/T: WrestlingInc)
“I always look back at my NXT title (reign) a little bittersweet, because I felt that, and this might sound strange, I felt it wasn’t the right time. Because Johnny and Tommaso’s feud was so hot, I felt there was always a level of intrigue with me that could’ve passed through their feud, and then make the call. The decision was eventually made for like, so okay, I become champion.” Malakai said.

To everyone’s surprise, Black made his AEW debut on the special July 7 episode of AEW Dynamite: Road Rager, where he then delivered a ‘Black Mass’ to Cody Rhodes.
In the same interview, Black talked about the new environment he is experiencing being a part of AEW. He further added that he had many ideas for his character in WWE but it never came to fruition.

“It really is an incredible company, I don’t know how to explain this. I feel so good being in AEW. I feel really relaxed in a way that I haven’t been able to relax in quite a while.” Black said.
