Samoans have a strong genetic heritage in wrestling. The Samoan tribe has produced wrestling warriors for generations. Even today, a Samoan is ruling the roost in the WWE. However, one of the most underrated yet dominant Samoan wrestlers is none other than Samoa Joe. Joe is undeniably as tough as he is vicious.

Although his stint with WWE was not very fruitful, he carved out a legendary career in TNA. And to this day, Joe continues his dominance in AEW. Joe’s old rival, Kurt Angle, recently revealed that the AEW star wrestles with a bad knee.

Samoa Joe was on a roll as an undefeated TNA star in 2006. Joe vanquished the likes of AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Jeff Jarret, and many others to establish himself as the most dominant force in TNA at the time. However, his winning streak came to an end after the riveting debut of Kurt Angle.

Angle made his first appearance by delivering a vicious headbutt, busting open Samoa Joe. The duo would then engage in multiple iconic matches, showcasing authentic athletic performances in the ring. However, Samoa Joe was seemingly performing with a bad knee the entire time.

During an edition of The Kurt Angle Show, The WWE Hall of Famer praised Samoa Joe for pulling off high-risk moves. He also revealed that Joe had a “bum knee” that would bother him, but he would not let it encumber his phenomenal wrestling.

At one point, show host Paul Bromwell and Kurt Angle discussed Joe’s ability to pull off crazy moves like suicide dives at present just as easily as he did back in the day. Angle went on to say that Joe has more heart than excuses, bad knee or not.

Angle said, “He has a bum knee, his knee is not good, it’s never been good, it bothers him all the time. And you know what? He never shows it when he wrestles.”

Come hell or high water, Joe aims to deliver his absolute best in front of the fans. The former two-time AEW TNT Champion recently locked horns with his arch-rival CM Punk, years after their iconic trilogy matches

The duo is set to face off in a one-on-one match on Collision on July 8th. We will have to wait and see if CM Punk finally settles his score with Samoa Joe come Saturday.

Further during the interview, The Olympic Wrestling Machine recalled how intimidating Joe’s presence was the first time Angle met him. According to Angle, he first saw Joe at a bar in a dark area, seated alone and enjoying his whiskey.

The first thought that crossed Angle’s mind when he saw him was- “Nobody’s going to fu** with this guy”.
