AEW has lost yet another employee from its roster. Tony Khan reportedly fired announcer Kevin Kelly from the active roster of his promotion. While the CEO of AEW hasn’t clarified why this action was taken against a long-term employee, a report claims to know the exact reason behind his firing.
Kelly debuted in AEW on June 17, 2023, on the inaugural episode of AEW Collision alongside Nigel McGuinness. His career in the company was seemingly short-lived as he was reportedly fired on March 8th this year. New reports from sources point toward the reason behind the same.

Not a lot of fans were happy with Kelly’s performance but little did they know that the commentator was not best pleased with his fellow announcers. The now ex-AEW employee had earlier blamed his former colleague, Ian Riccaboni for having spread libel about him during his tenure as commentator. All the drama started when a fan appreciated Kevin Kelly for sharing some insights in between match spots on X.
To this, the now-fired employee started venting about the way that Riccaboni has turned down his valuable insights and ‘libeled’ him. When asked to clarify the exact instances when this has happened, Kelly tweeted, “When you go out of your way to intentionally mischaracterize my raising awareness of the global horrors of child trafficking to a fringe conspiracy theory that everyone knows is bullshit in order to hurt my career and standing in the industry, that at the very least is libelous.”

This went down around March 3rd. Now, after a few days, we have indicators that Kelly was fired as he can’t be seen on the roster page on AEW’s official website while Riccaboni is still there. Reports from PW Torch suggest that this action was taken because of his public accusation regarding the RoH commentator.
