WWE rarely moves out of its comfort zone when it comes to major PPVs. However, the creative team took two steps forward on the road to Extreme Rules 2016 when Dean Ambrose introduced the Ambrose Asylum to the WWE Universe.

The structure was an add-on to the reaction Hell in a cell steel cage, but with a bit of a bizarre twist. On top of the structure, there were a number of objects suspended which could be accessed only after climbing the supposedly rusty steel of the cage.

A fire extinguisher, a straight jacket, a plant pot, kendo stick, and a wooden plank covered with barbed wires were just some of the atrocities hanging atop the cell in this structure.

WWE fans got to witness this atrocity on the May 16, 2016 episode of Raw. Dean Ambrose, locked in a feud with Chris Jericho, challenged the WWE legend to a huge fight at Extreme Rules inside his malicious creation.

Jericho reluctantly agreed and the stage was set for the huge match. The structure was designed as such that the only way to escape was defeating your opponent. There was no way out, unlike the Steel Cage fight, and one truly had to face his demons inside the Ambrose Asylum. ‘
