Tony Khan‘s promotion often struggles with maintaining its image among fans. When not for booking, AEW is called out for the way its matches are carried out compared to other wrestling promotions in the industry. The President of AEW showed his gratitude to the viewers via ‘X’ recently after wrapping up last weekend’s shows.
He talked about ‘Rampage’ and ‘Collision’ this weekend and thanked the fans for making the Saturday night event happen. However, his tweet wasn’t well received by fans online.
Tony Khan thanks everyone for their efforts

AEW had a combined show for AEW Rampage and Collision on May 11th in the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. There were cards for the event that had some regular fans excited for Saturday night. Considering the growth that Tony Khan’s promotion is observing this year, the show was expected to perform well.
While AEW didn’t reveal the statistics that would help us judge whether it was a successful night for them, Tony Khan took to X to thank all the viewers, hinting that it may have done better than he expected. “Thank you all who watched Saturday Night #AEWCollision + #AEWRampage tonight, the first Saturday Night Wrestling on TBS Superstation in over 2 decades, fittingly with @tonyschiavone24 on the call,” wrote Khan in the tweet before closing off with the next week’s invitation to the fans.
AEW: Where The Best Wrestle!
Thank you all who watched Saturday Night #AEWCollision + #AEWRampage tonight, the first Saturday Night Wrestling on TBS Superstation in over 2 decades, fittingly with @tonyschiavone24 on the call!
Back on TNT next Saturday, + this Wednesday on TBS!

This tweet was not well received by the internet wrestling community. Despite their business progress in the first quarter of 2024, Khan has seemingly not had good luck with the viewers. As a result, fans also took the liberty of calling out the weekend shows. With AEW Double or Nothing just around the corner, things don’t look good for the company.
While some showed discontent from the botched spots, others complained about the show being bland or a lackluster build-up.
Fans took aim at Tony Khan for praising his promotion
One of the bigger problems that wrestling fans seem to have with Tony Khan is that he praises AEW despite the different shots that others take on its flaws. This time around, fans started commenting on Khan’s appreciation post.
One fan started by reposting a botched spot from the show and quoting the businessman’s tweet, showing the irony between his praise and the reality of the event.

This fan drew a straight comparison between the two rival promotions and took WWE’s side to show that AEW is inferior to the leading wrestling promotion.
I don't ever watch AEW anymore thank god for WWE

The appreciation post has gotten Tony Khan accused of indulging in drugs because fans believe that he shouldn’t have written such a statement if he was sober.
How much coke have you snorted as of posting this?

Since AEW sometimes suffers from low viewership, an internet user took the liberty to call them out using one of the well-known things about the promotion.
I'm betting no one watched, as per usual.

Yet another deep cut for AEW that has its base in facts and can’t be turned down without properly knowing the statistics of the show that took place on Saturday evening.
And then the ratings and attendance numbers come out…. 😂
