The WWE Universe has seen many Superstars come and go. A good amount of them make it to the history books and become regulars at the company. However, quite a few go down as buried potential and Jake Hager is one of them.

The AEW Superstar used to have a big role in WWE before plans for him went downhill. Known as Jack Swagger to WWE fans, Hager can’t help but feel like he wasn’t really given a shot.

In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, the former WWE Heavyweight Champion weighed in on how he moved on from the restraints of his former company.

“Do I feel like WWE misused me? Of course, I do. But like, nothing I say or do now is ever going to change the past,” admitted Hager. “All I can do is move forward and smile, and sometimes that’s difficult, but you know, when you are winning, it’s not difficult at all.”

“It’s easy not to be upset, still brittle about stuff that has happened. It’s time to move on and smile because life is short.”

As Jack Swagger, a young Hager saw a comfortable push in his career. He quickly rose to have his own gimmick and move.

Jake Hager was being made into something he’s not in WWE

Unfortunately, it became evident soon that WWE was trying to make Hager into the next Kurt Angle. Apart from having the WWE legend’s signature move, Hager was also made to take on a patriotic gimmick.

After his first few storylines ended, WWE writers couldn’t seem to find a place for Hager. After a few unsuccessful attempts at side-stories, the company parted ways with Hager.

As he has so rightfully stated, Hager has truly evolved since he left the company. For starters, he has a clean track record at Bellator, remaining undefeated in MMA.

Apart from this, he is also a regular at AEW, in which he is part of Chris Jericho’s faction ‘The Inner Circle’. Hager is looking at a brighter future still in different streams.

AEW may just use him up to his potential and rekindle the wrestling fire inside him. Hager himself is enjoying himself and there isn’t a single fan now that looks at him as a ‘what if?’.
