The world of wrestling is chock-full of bad blood and melodrama between wrestlers and stake holders. We see best friends turning into the worst foes and their drama even beyond the ring. This time around it’s the turn of AEW owner Tony Khan to butt heads with popular MMA reporter Ariel Helwani. Helwani received the least flattering response from Tony Khan as he made his WWE reporting debut. Moreover, Khan still carries the wounds from his time on the famous show The MMA Hour hosted by the acclaimed sports reporter.
Many people didn’t expect him to blurt out such spiteful comments after a big night for Helwani.

Khan took to Twitter to hit out at Helwani’s image as a journalist. Moreover, the AEW boss didn’t feel the need to hold back and compared him to All Elite Wrestling commentator, Tony Schiavone. In the sensational tweet, Khan wrote, “You’re a fraud @arielhelwani. You’re as legitimate of a reporter as @tonyschiavone24. #AEWRampage”

After this spiteful tweet, fans can get a sense that Khan apparently doesn’t get along well with Helwani and threw shade at his commentator Tony Schiavone as well.
Despite the negativity, Helwani got off to a great start at the WWE SmackDown event. As the show was in Montreal, the Canadian Helwani must have enjoyed being part of the WWE segment.

Wrestling fans can never forget the uncomfortable interview between Tony Khan and Ariel Helwani. Both of them interacted back in October 2022, on The MMA Hour show. However, Helwani labeled it as one of the most frustrating interviews in his career after Khan refused to comment about the post-show backstage brawl at All Out in September. Moreover, throughout the entire interview, Khan suspected Helwani’s bias against AEW. Therefore, the two never got off on the same foot.
This could explain why Khan seized this opportunity to go after the journalist after his appearance for his rival promotion. How Helwani responds to these comments remains to be seen.
