The opening match of NXT Takeover was strong enough to be the best match on the card. This was mostly because of another brilliant performance by Raquel Gonzalez.

In a spot where her freaky strength was on display, Gonzalez launched Ember Moon over the top rope and onto the elevated ramp. Moon landed on the ramp with a sickening thud, and Raquel and Dakota Kai marched on to win the Dusty Rhodes Classic final.

Io Shirai dives off the scaffolding

Although her match against Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm flew under the radar, Io Shirai made headlines. Her impressive performance and risk-taking ability helped her retain the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Takeover.

Shirai launched herself off a piece of scaffolding beside the commentary desk. She took out Toni and Mercedes with a massive cross body and emerged out of the chaos unscathed. A veritable genius of the sky is Io Shirai.

MSK pulls of shocking upset at NXT Takeover

Few expected Wes Lee and Nash Carter to win the Dusty Rhodes Classic finals against the Grizzled Young Veterans. The first ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions were hellbent on establishing themselves as the best team on American soil as well.

Unfortunately, MSK spoilt the party, thwarting the veterans with their high-flying offence. The modified Hart Attack/neckbreaker combination got the shocking three count for WWE’s newest signees.

Eli Drake is in WWE!

Former TNA and NWA superstar Eli Drake has arrived in NXT. The former NWA Tag Team Champion is one of the most sought after talents on the independent scene and is now in the Capitol Wrestling Center.

Drake has been rebranded to LA Knight. The name doesn’t scream creativity, but we hope his talents take him to the level at which he becomes NXT Champion in no time.

The Undisputed Era ran out to chase away Pete Dunne and the NXT Tag Team Champions Burch and Lorcan. Once the ring was clear, Balor and O’Reilly had a stare down in the ring.
