Dominik Mysterio first made a WWE appearance at the age of eight alongside his father but now cannot stand the sight of him on WWE TV. The second-generation wrestler has walked through several tests and has made a very effective impression on the WWE Universe. While he may not be winning all his matches, Dom has been winning the hearts of the people since day 1. A recently uploaded social media post took the WWE Universe back to the time when Dominik Mysterio made his WWE in-ring debut.

The clip shows the young wrestler with his dad Rey Mysterio in a rare backstage recording. In fact, Vince McMahon himself was present to welcome the wrestler after a great debut at SummerSlam in 2020.

The video shared on X shows an emotionally charged Dominik Mysterio embracing Rey Mysterio after his official debut. The video clip dates three before his storyline split with his father. The young wrestler received a big hug from WWE’s chairman, Vince McMahon waiting for him backstage after his first match in WWE.

The tweet carried the caption, “Man, I love Dominik Mysterio’s reaction backstage following his debut match at SummerSlam.” His match alongside his father against Seth Rollins and  Buddy Murphy evoked a grand response from the audience. The reaction from the crowd made Vince McMahon very happy, and he complimented Dom for it.

McMahon held Dom and said, “Congratulations. Very few people can get that kind of reaction whenever they’re in the ring. No matter how long they’ve been in the business. You should be very very proud of yourself.” Dom had worked hard to build the hype for the match.

In fact, he suffered several kendo stick blows from Rollins and Murphy before his debut at SummerSlam. While Dominik debuted alongside his father, but he later emerged from his shadows and now commands his own presence.

The fallout between the two Mysterios

Dominik Mysterio was having a great run alongside his father, but things weren’t enough to propel him as a singles competitor. While the young Mysterio enjoyed several mini stints where he assisted his dad, it just pushed him more and more into the sidekick role.

Dominik Mysterio didn’t have the grand entrance a second-generation wrestler usually has. Dom realized that the only way to either bear, carry, or propagate the Mysterio name was to fight his father.

The fallout between the two Mysterios was perhaps one of the most vulnerable moments for Dominik Mysterio. At Clash at the Castle last year, Dominik Mysterio turned on his father and aligned himself with The Judgment Day. The father and son duo clashed at WrestleMania in April 2023 and traded heavy blows against each other. The crowd was especially excited and hyped up about the match which ended in the victory of Rey Mysterio.
