“A Used Car Salesman..”: Rey Mysterio’s Real-Life Friend Shoots Insulting Remarks on Cody Rhodes Ahead of His Blockbuster Showdown Against Roman Reigns

Very few in WWE are getting a better response from the live audience as well as Twitter, consistently than Cody Rhodes. The man is not only in his career’s best shape, but he has a lot of experience when it comes to performing on a big stage. But some fans still think it would make more sense if someone else brings down Roman Reigns.

While addressing this situation and probable outcome, one of Rey Mysterio’s dearest friends hit out at Rhodes’ looks. But what does he think about Rhodes’ potential loss at the Showcase of the Immortals?

After talking about his work, Konnan takes shot at Cody Rhodes’ look

On the Keepin’ it 100 podcast, Konnan, the legendary wrestler, and real-life friend of Rey Mysterio, was talking about Roman Reigns’ title run coming to an end. During the fans’ Q&A section, one fan asked about the opinion of the hosts about fans wanting Jey Uso to be the one to dethrone Reigns instead of Rhodes.

To this Konnan mentioned that Reigns’ storyline with the Bloodline is coming to a close. He mentioned, rather than being the one to take the title from him, Jey Uso should cause a shenanigan that leads to Reigns’ title run ending at WrestleMania. Also, he adds that Rhodes’ momentum is over the moon right now, and losing to Reigns would majorly affect it.

But after supporting the idea of seeing Rhodes on top, Konnan added, “Cody’s got a weird look, man. He looks like a used car salesman mixed with a TV evangelist and a politician. That kid comes up as very unsavory.”

Despite his looks and Konnan’s comments about it, there’s no denying that Rhodes has captured fans’ attention. Whether it is on Raw or SmackDown, Rhodes is one of the most popular stars in under a year at WWE, but how did he manage to continue this level of momentum?

Being the biggest surprise of WrestleMania 38 Night 1, Cody Rhodes was always going to be a big deal in WWE after his work outside the company. But when he came back, it wasn’t only about him leaving AEW. Throughout 2022, Rhodes developed an organic story with Seth Rollins and killed it with his performances with the mic and in the ring.

Bringing all of that into his victory at this year’s Royal Rumble, ‘The American Nightmare’ was close to the top of the card in WWE. But it was his connection to The Bloodline story that made him even more popular. If WWE hadn’t found a way to connect him to Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens‘ heartfelt reunion, he would feel very detached from the entire drama going on at the moment.

Add to that his excellent promo segments with Reigns that never fail to elicit a big response from the crowd, and everyone is talking about Rhodes. If he loses to Reigns after all of this build-up, it would be a pretty risky decision for WWE.

Not only would the company anger the Rhodes fanbase but also the wider mainstream audience that has been keeping up with WWE recently due to WrestleMania fever.
