A lot of fans dream of becoming a WWE superstar, in their life. But, very few work hard and sacrifice blood, sweat, and tears to achieve their dream. Daria Berenato, ring name, Sonya Deville, is one of those wrestlers who gave it all to achieve her dream. However, the job is not all perfect and has its fair share of drawbacks.

Back in 2020, she got to experience the adverse effects of fame by enduring a traumatizing situation in her own household. Even though the case has since been resolved, echoes of the past haunt the recently engaged wrestler to this day.

Sonya Deville once got assaulted by an armed intruder in her own house

Back in August 2020, A man tried to assault Sonya Deville with a knife and a mace, in her own house. She heard the alarm and rushed to the back door of her home, only to find herself in a sticky situation with the assailant. Thankfully, her martial arts knowledge came in handy to avoid any damage from the weapons and defend herself. The 29-year-old got lucky as the Hillsborough County Sheriff quickly responded to the emergency. Before that, Deville and her partner, Mandy Rose, fled the house in their car and informed authorities by calling 911.

Later, Deville shared this news on Twitter and posted about the traumatic incident, that occurred late in the night. She wrote “Thank you everyone for your love and concern. A very frightening experience but thankfully everyone is safe. A special thank you to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for their response and assistance. 🖤”

The WWE star admitted it was a frightening experience. Therefore, Deville adopted the habit of keeping a firearm by her side. To protect herself from such dangers, in case of emergencies.

This unfortunate incident still haunts her, to this date

This peculiar habit got Sonya Deville into trouble recently. As she got arrested in New Jersey for having an unlicensed firearm in her possession. The former WWE official had a permit for the firearm in Florida, but not New Jersey, leading to her arrest.

Nevertheless, Sonya Deville still feels the need to protect herself because of what happened that night. The stalker’s spiteful attempt left her emotionally vulnerable, and she carries a firearm at all times to ensure her safety..
