At the time of this 2001 interview, Cena had already gotten done with one of the WWE tapings. The match was a tag team match against Lesnar and Shelton Benjamin. But this didn’t stop Cena from appreciating their talents. When Meltzer asked what it’s like to work with the ‘big men’, he appreciated how Benjamin is so shredded. Contrary to his fit physique, Shelton would drink Mountain Dew and eat Pringles anytime he liked and still be able to do whatever you ask of him in the ring. Then, Cena also moved on to talk about Brock Lesnar.

John Cena said, “You know what, I called it ‘The Matrix’ out here, the third day I was out here.” Then, after praising Shelton for his amazing physique and ability to perform in the ring in spite of what he munches on, he moved on to Brock Lesnar. “We got Brock who’s 6’6″, 275 [lbs], who can do a shooting star press to perfection,” Cena revealed.

Although he admitted that the moves Lesnar performs look lethal, he also added that The Beast Incarnate is soft on the inside: “He’s soft as a slipper full of baby cr*p.

While Cena had to go back to OVW the same year this happened, Brock Lesnar had pressurized his way out of the developmental territory long before that could happen.
