No matter what pro-wrestling promotion you are a fan of, nobody can deny the fact that the WWE is one of the best when it comes to marketing, building a brand that has brought up the entire industry. There is a reason why it has made itself the biggest promotion in the world, with a value of almost $7 billion.
But how did they do it? Well, they find ways to know their audiences, what they want, and their subconscious desires. And how do we know that? Well, a WWE legend revealed it himself. Let’s dive into the details, shall we?

One cannot make their mark in the business world without knowing their audience, which is why market study is considered a major factor before beginning any venture. But times change, and so does the psyche of the target audience, so how do we keep up with them? And how does the WWE do it?
In a recent episode of the Busted Open podcast, host Dave LeGraca was joined by Hall of Famer and one-half of the Dudley Boyz, Bully Ray. While discussing the American Nightmare’s road to WrestleMania 40, they brought up how the upcoming faceoff between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk could be more than just ‘compelling television’.
Bully says, “It could be a sign of things to come. Who knows, maybe WWE could be showing us the two champions that are going to take us into 2024. Maybe Cody wins, maybe Punk wins. Maybe they want to get a gauge on both of these guys and have a would-be, as World Champions.”
He further adds, “On the surface, it makes for compelling television; beneath the surface, it could very much tell the WWE who the people, or be it people of New Orleans, are behind.” This proves why WWE is always ahead of its competition by trying out ways to understand and adapt to the ever-changing mindset of its audiences. So the Punk and Rhodes confrontation is more than what meets the eye, but how did it all begin?
Punk lets his presence be known on RAW
Even though CM Punk missed the last edition of Monday Night RAW, he made sure he didn’t miss out on any limelight. Just a little time after Rhodes finished his promo, where he subtly mentioned ‘The Cult of Personality’ and the American Nightmare would be winning at the upcoming PLE.

And it would be quite interesting to see how things fare between the two. While the American nightmare would be looking to win the Royal Rumble and ‘finish his story’, while also becoming the second man to win two consecutive rumbles, Punk, on the other hand, would be looking for an opportunity to finally main-event a WrestleMania, which has been a lifelong desire of his.
