The Beast Incarnate left WWE abruptly in 2004. He then started an adventure of his own. In 2005, he went to Japan to work in different wrestling promotions. One of them was the ‘New Japan Pro Wrestling’. There, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ met the living legend, Antonio Inoki. Like all other wrestlers working there, Lesnar developed a respect for the legend. Sadly in late 2022, Inoki took his last breath before departing from this world.

Lesnar had a match against Omos at WrestleMania 39. A guest arrived at the SoFi Stadium to catch him live. According to report in ‘Tokyo Sports’, this guest was seemingly a close acquaintance of Antonio Inoki.

Despite not knowing much about the relative, Lesnar patiently talked to them backstage. He learned more about Inoki’s struggle with the health issues he was suffering from. He also inquired about his last days and offered condolences to them for losing Inoki. Moreover, during the conversation, Lesnar was approached by another person, “but he listened intently to Inoki’s final moments regardless of that,” according to the report.

Lesnar went on to present himself as a gentleman because of the respect he had for Inoki. However, there was also an instance where the wrestler ‘disrespected’ the legend and still got away with it.

Brock Lesnar once rejected a wrestling tradition enforced by Antonio Inoki

Back when Lesnar wanted to get into the Japanese pro wrestling business, there was a long-running tradition. This tradition was for both outsiders and for Japan’s own wrestlers. However, The Beast Incarnate refused to follow through as he felt uncomfortable. This is because the tradition was to get slapped by Inoki.

This tradition had been long-running in the industry, and Lesnar was asked to follow suit. Despite his refusal to follow through, Inoki did not make a fuss about it.

Inoki did not consider what the media and people will think about him. Rather, he kept his calm as he understood Lesnar’s point of view. Perhaps this incident evoked feelings of respect towards him inside Lesnar that he repaid at WrestleMania 39.
