Loyalty is always rewarded, or so they say. WWE has over the years been the host of several loyal superstars. However, arguably none has been as loyal to the promotion as The Undertaker. Despite his loyalty to the promotion, Vince McMahon once put an end to his massive record, yet he never felt betrayed.

The Phenom’s loyalty was rewarded by McMahon with his undefeated streak at ‘Mania, but later also snatched it away from him. At WrestleMania 30, the famous WrestleMania streak finally came to an end after Brock Lesnar kept The Phenom down for the three count. Recently, Lesnar’s former advocate Paul Heyman opened up on that moment and explained why The Undertaker did not feel betrayed despite his legendary feat coming to an end after a span of two decades.

Speaking on a podcast, Heyman opened up on a plethora of issues and topics in WWE, including the end of the undefeated streak of The Undertaker by his former client Brock Lesnar. He opened up on how despite this, The Deadman never felt betrayed.

However, the 57-year-old also added that if the promotion was run by any other person, then The Undertaker might have felt backstabed. Heyman claimed, “If this was anyone else’s promotion I would suggest Undertaker himself and anybody else observant would have the right to feel betrayed by the notion after a while.”

He continued that one of the most ideal things would have been to retire the streak intact with The Undertaker. Heyman stated, “That you would stop this, end this, and take this away. That you would end the streak. That the streak would not be retired with The Undertaker intact.”

Several legendary wrestlers had tried ending the streak but failed miserably. However, a prime Brock Lesnar stood up to the challenge and put an end to Taker’s 21 consecutive wins at WrestleMania.

What was WWE’s plan for Brock Lesnar after he ended The Undertaker’s streak?

Speaking on the above podcast, Heyman continued on what WWE planned for Lesnar after his massive feat at WrestleMania 30. He stated that WWE built Lesnar as the mountain top which people needed to climb on to achieve greatness.

And the next superstar to defeat Brock Lesnar would become the next top thing. However, despite Lesnar defeating The Undertaker and reaching the top, the WWE still had one person in mind to be the next in line to Brock Lesnar. Heyman continued, and stated, “the person to become the one who beat the one in 21-1. We had someone in mind, even at that time. Do you know who that person was? Roman Reigns.”

Roman Reigns was always the golden boy of WWE and started receiving a major push from his early days. He went on to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 31, but Seth Rollins eventually stole the show and the title. Reigns would rise to the top much later after turning heel.
