$80 Million Worth John Cena Could Not Hide Himself From Being a Cristiano Ronaldo Fanboy in 2017

Cristiano Ronaldo and John Cena are two of the most popular stars in the world today. Both rose to prominence in the mid-2000s and soon became household names. Their legacies are unparalleled with achievements and accolades aplenty. Although we have never seen the two stars cross paths so far, Cena once talked about his admiration for Ronaldo and gave him a massive compliment.

The Leader of Cenation has a legion of fans across the globe and has inspired many people. A lot of celebrities and athletes have talked about John Cena being their favorite wrestling star. However, in an interview from a few years ago, The Peacemaker had his fanboy moment when he mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo and had high praise for him.

Cena picked Cristiano Ronaldo as his favorite soccer player

When it comes to worldwide fandom, John Cena and Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo have to be two of the biggest names. Cena is well-known as a WWE star who won the world title 16-times and was the face of the company for over a decade. He successfully transitioned into Hollywood to magnify his star power. Currently, he has his own TV series by DC titled ‘Peacemaker‘.

On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo is a soccer legend. He has won multiple league titles in England, Spain, and Italy and has won the UEFA Champions League title four times. Ronaldo has also won the best footballer award Ballon d’Or, five times. Clearly, both Cena and Ronaldo are in a league of their own and have a fan following that transcends their respective sport.

We are used to seeing people being awe-struck or in full admiration of John Cena. But on one occasion, the ‘Doctor of Thuganomics’ displayed his fanboy moment when he talked about the current Manchester United soccer star.

In 2017, Cena appeared as a guest on a chat show on BBC with soccer expert Mark Lawrenson. He answered a number of questions and hailed Ronaldo for his success. Cena said, “If I had to name some famous footballers, I would start and end with Cristiano Ronaldo. That’s it.”

To see a megastar like Cena turn into a Cristiano Ronaldo fanboy must have been a delightful moment for both fandoms. During the interview, the wrestler-turned-Hollywood star also revealed that visited the stadium of the English soccer team Tottenham Hotspur’ in 2008.

Lawrenson further asked Cena which position he would like to play at in soccer. The Franchise Player replied he won’t be able to run for 90 minutes and would rather be a goalkeeper. We may not know how Cena would do on a soccer field, but so far in his career, he has found success wherever he has gone and established himself as one of the most known faces globally.
