Chris Jericho had a remarkable WWE career. From defeating The Rock and Steve Austin on the same night to becoming a Grand Slam Champion in WWE, Y2J experienced it all.

Chris Jericho competed in several WrestleMania matches. Recently, he opened up about his involvement at WrestleMania 16. Recalling WrestleMania 16, Jericho revealed what the original plans were for him at that year’s WrestleMania.

Triple H, Big Show, The Rock, and Mick Foley competed in the main event match at WrestleMania 16. The four men competed in a Fatal 4-Way elimination match for the WWF Championship.

But during the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show on AdFreeShows.com, Y2J revealed the original plans for him at WrestleMania 16. Jericho claimed that the original plans for the main event involved him rather than Mick Foley.

He said, “If you remember, it was a four-way title match with a McMahon in every corner. The original plan for that match was the four-way was Hunter, The Rock, Big Show, and Jericho.”

“And if you think that I’m just saying that because I heard rumors or someone told me, they actually made promotional pieces for the match,” Jericho added.

Further, the WWE superstar revealed Vince McMahon might not have the belief in him to put him in that spot.

Chris Jericho said, “I think Vince didn’t have the belief in me, I guess, to put me in that spot yet. So he brought Mick back.”

Triple H successfully defended the WWF Championship in the main event against The Rock, Big Show, and Mick Foley. Coming to Jericho, he also competed on that night and even won a championship.

Who did Chris Jericho compete against at WrestleMania 16?

Chris Jericho competed against Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 16. It was a Two-fall Triple Threat Match for the WWF Intercontinental and WWF European Championships.

The first fall was for the WWF Intercontinental Championship and the second fall was for the WWF European Championship. Chris Benoit won the WWF Intercontinental Championship after winning getting the first pinfall.

And Jericho won the WWF European Championship by getting the second pinfall. Interestingly, Kurt Angle who came into the match holding both the titles lost both.
