So naturally, according to Jericho, when he was in the WWE, he believes Vince McMahon didn’t care about his thoughts.
Chris Jericho and Triple H didn’t like each other!
Recently, Jericho joined as a special guest on The Kurt Angle Show. So, both former World Champions discussed Chris Jericho’s role in Vince McMahon’s company. Kurt Angle appreciated Jericho by pointing out that his actions and the Y2J gimmick made him a star when he debuted.
Chris replied, “There was a lot of politics at that time. And when I say this, it’s not from a bitter point of view or angry point of view. It’s just the way it was.” During Le Champion’s early days in the WWE, Triple H and he had a major feud, and the two wrestlers mutually didn’t like each other.
Jericho added, “I think Hunter had such power that if he didn’t like me, of course, even if he’s not going out of his way to bury me to Vince, I am sure every time my name came up, he’d be like, ‘Aahh, that guy, common.’ It’s just the kind of a way business worked at that time.”
The former WWE Superstar imagines that Vince McMahon’s company did not appreciate his views. Triple H, being the son-in-law to Mr. McMahon, had the upper hand on most wrestlers.
Vince McMahon shut down Jericho’s idea
Chris Jericho also shared an incident of him expressing his views directly with The Big Man. However, Jericho’s thoughts were undermined by Mr. McMahon. As per Jericho, the WWE did not like him giving ideas to the creative team.
But Chris Jericho has the significance of coming out clean; maybe that is something that Vince McMahon and the company undermined.
“I called Vince one night when Cena was first starting, our first pay-per-view. I said, ‘Vince, you’ve to let me put this guy over,’” Jericho added.
“It was what’s best for the show and what’s best for the match. And because I had an opinion, and I never cared about expressing it, that got me heat at the beginning, but then it got me respect in the end,” Y2J stated.
