He said, “If I could choose an opponent for WrestleMania 39, I would want Cody.”

Escober said this because of the history they have, as they were supposed to face each other long ago in their professional careers. Before Escobar and Rhodes found themselves together at WWE, they fought at Lucha Libre AAA, a Mexican-based promotion.

Santos explained why the match never took place “I wanted to fight Cody in Mexico two years ago, and he was set to fight at AAA pay-per-view. Then I left the company and couldn’t do it, but I think that’s something that now is possible. So that’s why I would pick Cody for this Mania.”

Therefore, Escobar hopes he could finally have the fight that’s been on hold for two years. But, Rhodes has bigger fish to fry at WrestleMania 39.
