Stone Cold Steve Austin left WWE in 2003 and his career as an active in-ring performer came to an end. However, he returned to WrestleMania 38 to have a segment and match against The Prizefighter Kevin Owens and put on quite a show for those watching him after a 19-year absence from the ring.
Recently, prior to WrestleMania 39, rumors arose of WWE superstar LA Knight going one on one with Stone Cold Steve Austin or at least having a segment with him at the event. However, the match never took place, and fans were left upset at the turn of events. LA Knight is one of the most over superstars on the roster now, and a segment against Austin would have boosted his career.

However, Austin recently cleared the air on LA Knight situation and gave a vivid explanation of what went down. Speaking with Bleacher Report, Austin explained his point of view, and how LA Knight had gotten in touch with him.

While Austin was one of the top names on the roster in the early 2000s, Knight was still trying to make it big on the indie scene.
However, he would soon strike gold, and become one of the top names on IMPACT Wrestling. A few years ago, he made his NXT debut and became a popular name on the roster. LA Knight became extremely over with the fans and also had a rumored segment with Austin at ‘Mania. But, it never happened.
Recently, Austin explained why it did not occur, and how Knight had contacted him as well. Austin said, “I got a text message from him a while back, and I’m so bad about returning calls. My wife gets on me about it all the time, I’ve got a lot of heat.”
Speaking with Bleacher Report, Stone Cold noted that LA Knight had gotten in touch with him a while ago. Austin had high praise and some key advice for the 40-year-old, saying:

Austin said he did reply to Knight’s message. He added, “But I did talk to him before that one text and I told him, ‘Hey man, just make sure your cardio is supreme and go do you’. This could mean Austin was all set to appear at WrestleMania 39 but something changed his mind at the last minute.
Talking about LA Knight, he further said, “That guy can talk a blue streak, he’s a great worker, he’s got a good look, he’s got a great energy. I think he’s doing great.” The Texas Rattlesnake further claimed that LA Knight is already on a high level, and can go much higher.
The 40-year-old is currently one of the favorites to win Money in the Bank 2023. and is one of the talents, if booked properly has all the tools to be a success on the main roster.
