Over the past few months since Vince McMahon‘s scandal broke, Brock Lesnar has not been mentioned by the WWE. With his involvement in the scandal, the company has distanced itself from The Beast. Plans for his return at the Royal Rumble and potential plans to face Gunther at WrestleMania XL have been scrapped. However, in an odd move, Triple H congratulated Basketball’s new rising star, Rylan Griffen, despite comparing himself to Lesnar.

Rylan Griffen made headlines as he led the Alabama Crimson Tide to a win in Sweet 16. The post-match interview showcased how big a fan of the WWE Griffen was.

On Saturday, Griffen helped the Alabama Crimson Tide secure their place in the Final Four in March Madness. Scoring 13 points helped the team win the West Regional title with an 89-82 victory over Clemson. This was a massive victory for the 20-year-old rising star. However, after the game came something even more interesting. While talking to the media, Griffen said, “It felt like when Undertaker lost to Brock Lesnar at Mania and lost the streak. He finally broke the streak. I feel like Brock Lesnar today.” While the WWE does acknowledge the breaking of the streak, Lesnar is someone they would not like to be associated with.

The young basketball star also paid tribute to one of his favorite wrestlers. Griffen mimicked Triple H’s iconic water spit celebration after taking hold of the WWE belt. Moreover, taking to social media, Triple H said, “Nice job, Rylan.” The video that he commented on showed Griffen holding the Alabama WWE title. The video did not have him mentioning Lesnar. After getting the title, Griffen said, “Thank you, WWE, shoutout to y’all. I’ve watched it since I was a kid. This is better than the trophy to me.” The young star felt holding the WWE belt was better than winning the regional trophy.
