We have often seen The Rock pulling off the Bench Press like a piece of cake. Also, in his series Young Rock, we got a hang of it, as a teen Johnson could bench more than his peers.
Who can bench press more Dwayne Johnson or Shaquille O’ Neal?
In an interview with Muscles & Fitness a few years ago, Shaquille O’ Neal was asked how much can he bench?
Shaq revealed his best bench till date, but was also honest to reveal the weight he currently benches. He revealed, “My max was 475. I’m up to 415 now. I’ve got a bad shoulder, but I’m trying to get back to that. In my prime, I did it twice.”
Shaq hung up his basketball shoes in 2011. As said O’ Neal could lift more in his prime that means the time he was active as a NBA player. Even though he is retired, Shaq has never compromised on his health and hits the gym regularly to maintain the fitness level.
Dwayne Johnson also answered this question when he appeared in Wired YouTube’s Emily Blunt & Dwayne Johnson Answer The Web’s Most Searched Questions.
Dwayne Johnson said, “I don’t count, 400,500 pounds. Whatever.”
It seems Johnson mostly benches between 400-500 lbs depending on the sets he is doing. He might be starting a bench press with 400lbs and doing the final set of 500 lbs. But there is no source to verify this information except for Johnson’s word.
