However, it looks like AEW is willing to go all-in with the former NBA athlete. Here’s everything you need to know about the Indian-born Satnam Singh.

The history created by Satnam Singh

Born in 1995, Satnam Singh Bhamara became the first Indian and Sikh player to be drafted into the NBA when the Dallas Mavericks selected him with the 52nd overall pick of the 2015 NBA draft.

At 14 years old, Singh’s coach Harish Sharma recommended him for a scholarship for global sports marketing business IMGR but was denied because they considered him old.

The other thing that came in the way of Satnam was his English skills because he had none. However, Singh was later awarded a scholarship under the IMGR basketball training academy and he moved to Florida.

Although Singh’s moving to Florida was not much of a success. As even though he had his trial games with other athletes he could not play for the National Collegiate Athletic Association, aka NCAA, because of his poor English.

His fortune changed when Dallas Mavericks showed trust in him

Back in 2015, Satnam was short-listed for the 2015 NBA draft. And eventually, he was drafted by Dallas Mavericks to become the first player from India who got drafted into the NBA.

By getting drafted, Singh also became one of the few players to enter without playing in college, or in the NBA Development League. Singh was also the focus of a Netflix documentary called “One in a Billion” which focused on his success.
