Finding a clear pick in these arguments always emerges as a tough prospect as everyone has to have different opinions, but it seems like CM Punk has won over some NBA fans. This happened when his ESPN interview surfaced on YouTube.

The hosts of the show were asking Punk about different sports and his opinion on them. Before changing the topic, Molly asked him for his thoughts on the LeBron James vs Michael Jordan debate. This is when he decided to put forth his decisive opinion.

According to the “Best in the World”, there is no debate in this regard. In fact, when the female co-host asked him about his opinion, he expressed his shock because she didn’t already guess his pick. “No contest, come on,” said the WWE legend. And when the hosts asked to confirm whether he meant to name MJ, Punk agreed by saying, “A hundred percent.”

“He’s like ‘the guy’ when you mention a sport. [When] you mention basketball, you mention Michael Jordan. I think Kobe is a closer comparison to Michael Jordan than LeBron,” added the former AEW star in the interview.

Although he still loves LeBron James and his work in the NBA, the Lakers star doesn’t come anywhere close to Michael Jordan for him. This strong opinion is what some hardcore basketball fans loved to hear and appreciated in the comments.

Fans agree with CM Punk’s take on the NBA GOAT debate

Basketball fans engaged in a fruitful discussion regarding the numerous topics that Punk talked about. Yet the highlight remained his words about the NBA legend. The first comment that we spotted was of a fan having an imaginary conversation with Molly, who didn’t seem to agree with Punk completely:

“CM Punk :’Kobe is the closest to Jordan.’
Molly: ‘Interesting’
Me: ‘No Molly, that’s a fact.’”

Another commenter agreed with the “Voice of the Voiceless” and confirmed, “Jordan is the GOAT. 100 PERCENT.” While some may consider it a ‘hot take’, most basketball fans agree with Punk in choosing MJ as the GOAT of the NBA.

Someone believes what the Chicago-based wrestler just said about Jordan and the rest of the NBA isn’t just an opinion but a fact and there is no other opinion that comes close to this. “I’m a fan now just cuz he told the truth about MJ and Kobe!!! It’s simply the truth.”

One more netizen agreed with CM Punk by saying, “Of course but MJ is the goat because of his work ethic then you ask him those stupid questions after lol.” They believe that the co-host should’ve already known the ‘correct’ answer to this question and avoided it to ask a more pertinent question.

Soon after the WWE superstar provided his take on the topic, the male co-host eventually switched topics. This may have been not to stray further away from the track because they had limited time. However, netizens had a different school of thought. Keeping this in mind, a commenter said, “CM Punk told the reality and they didn’t like it. They changed the convo quick when he said Kobe was closer to Jordan.”

In the interview, Punk also mentioned how, for him, Michael Jordan is up there in the basketball Hall of Fame alongside Jordan Wayne Gretzky, former NHL athlete who is also considered the greatest of all time in his sport. This led to a fan slightly disagreeing but eventually adding to the point: “Jordan up there with Gretzky? You mean Gretzky up there with Jordan.”
