Has CM Punk finally embraced his dark side, or is this just another mind game?

When CM Punk appeared at the Money In The Bank PLE, he turned everything upside down. As you are aware, The Best in the World cost Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins their chance at the World Heavyweight championship. McIntyre won the Money in The Bank briefcase before this evening and invoked his rights during the title match between Damien Priest and Rollins, making it a triple threat match.

The match was going well when CM Punk returned and wrecked the Scottish Psychopath at once. Although this was done to set up a match between McIntyre and Punk at SummerSlam, which is still rumored, it appears that the WWE Universe dislikes the fact that once again Punk has interfered in a world title match. CM Punk was booed at WrestleMania when he cost McIntyre the Championship, and it appears that a similar reaction and echoed throughout today as well.

The WWE Universe may have desired a straightforward match for the championship because Priest has yet to successfully defend the championship clean. CM Punk’s interference in the match cost Seth Rollins the championship as well, and according to the match’s condition, The Visionary cannot challenge for the title as long as the Judgment Day star is the champion. Due to this stipulation, Rollins also expressed his fury at Punk after the match.

CM Punk has made a babyface enemy in WWE right now

Seth Rollins just returned from his sabbatical following WrestleMania 40, boosting his popularity among WWE fans. He is one of the most popular babyfaces in the WWE right now, and he was furious with Punk for costing him the Championship. Because of these facts, the argument can be made that CM Punk’s heel run in WWE has officially begun.

What’s your perspective on:

Has CM Punk finally embraced his dark side, or is this just another mind game?

Have an interesting take?

So far, the assumption is that Punk will settle his grievances with McIntyre in the ring at SummerSlam, but he may need to be medically cleared first. Furthermore, the WWE could act on the setup they put forward this year with Rollins having expressed his dislike of the former AEW star. Both superstars would need to clear things up, and what better way to do it than in the ring in a major match at the Show of Shows. Only time will tell what WWE has planned for the heel run of CM Punk.
