Brock Lesnar’s second coming in WWE after his UFC stint has been a memorable one. He has put on amazing matches and his crossover appeal has boosted WWE’s reputation as a sports entertainment hub.

During this run, there was a blast from Lesnar’s UFC past that many fans would like to forget. Former UFC Heavyweight Champion and the conqueror of The Beast in 2010, Cain Velasquez appeared on WWE programming a few years ago to set up a match with his erstwhile octagon rival.

The much-hyped match, a sequel to their UFC bout, turned out to be an underwhelming affair with Lesnar picking up the win in less than two minutes.

Wrestling fans and experts criticized the match as a strange affair. Recently, Velasquez talked about this infamous WWE match and shared what it was like working with The Beast inside a WWE ring.

Velasquez called Brock Lesnar professional

Cain Velasquez famously beat Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2010. Lesnar was the champion and beginning to dominate the MMA landscape.

But Velasquez was himself 8-0 and a huge threat to Lesnar’s title. At UFC 121, Velasquez stunned everyone with a first-round TKO win against the former WWE Champion.

Fast forward nine years and Rey Mysterio sought the help of El Terminator to fight off Brock Lesnar during their feud. Velasquez appeared on an episode of SmackDown in 2019 and beat down his old nemesis.

This led to WWE booking a marquee match at the Crown Jewel event between the two former UFC stars. Fans expected the match to be a hard-hitting affair and hoped for some big spots from the two men. But it wasn’t to be. Lesnar won after making Velasquez tap out with a Kimura lock in less than two minutes. This left the fans baffled and shocked.

Speaking on the Keepin It 100 podcast recently, Velasquez discussed his match with Lesnar in detail. He talked about what it was like working with the former Universal Champion.

He said, “Yeah, professional and I would say it was a little uncomfortable [planning out the match with Brock Lesnar] I’m just so new to the wrestling world but everyone that I’ve worked with has been amazing as far as, you take care of everybody.

Velasquez also described working with Lesnar as interesting. He continued, “Working with Brock was interesting man, that’s all I’m gonna say. It was very different. You kind of just learn from your life and okay, this is what this was.”

Many fans will be surprised to know that this match with Lesnar was not Velasquez’s first pro wrestling encounter. Before coming to the WWE, he signed a multi-match deal with the Mexican pro wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA and recently wrestled a few matches.

He recently made his return to AAA after some time on the sidelines.
