In the world of professional wrestling, there are few men greater than Terry Bollea, the man behind Hulk Hogan. The man who put WWE on the map in the ’80s has always been the only one in his family to reach this massive peak. While his own kids never took an interest in wrestling or combat sports, his nephew did.

Horace Hogan was another Hogan lost during the New Generation Era. His flailing alliances with WCW and WWE, because of Hogan, didn’t help his career. But another of Hogan’s nephews is making his name in another combat sports industry.

While most wrestling fans know about Horace Hogan, very few have heard of David Bollea. Nephew of the wrestling legend, he started his MMA training in 2008. In a YouTube video, which serves as an introduction to him, Bollea spills a lot about his philosophy while fighting. He even talks about his first professional fight, which took place in 2012.

In the video, we can also see that Bollea is more influenced by his anger and aggression to get into MMA than anything else. He also discussed the business of being a fighter. He expressed that his goal is to become the most famous fighter in the world and combining training and marketing his brand is the way to go for him and other fighters as well.

For his first fight, he reveals his sister got Hogan to come down to the arena, which was filled with 10,000 people. He also revealed that being booed by more than 10,000 people got him to bond with his uncle as well. But Hogan has different views about his nephew if you ask him.

How did David Bollea get in trouble with his uncle, The Hulkster?

Just two years after his first professional fight, David Bollea would turn his stage name into David King Bollea. While he gave no reason for this name, it could be assumed that he wanted to get eyes on him. With Hogan as the last name, people are going to look at you twice and get interested in the relationship between him and Hogan.

But he might have gotten into trouble as seen when TMZ showed Hogan his nephew’s reality show. The reality show was based around Bollea finding a girlfriend for him and his girlfriend. While we can’t see any episodes from this show, we can see the trailer for it. When the former WWE Champion heard about this, he had very little to say.

He said, “I’ve only met him twice in my entire life … he knows nothing about the Hogan family, the Hogan name, and has no right to use it.” If you search David King Bollea or his website, both come out as taken down. Did Hogan take legal action against his nephew to take these down? We’ll never know. But the next time that his nephew was in the news was when he suffered a brutal KO on live TV.

David Bollea suffered a brutal KO in a match that led to headlines

While talking about numbers, Bollea has a record of 5-2-0, being knocked out twice while making his opponents submit to him on other occasions. The most recent time that he was knocked out, his match was circling Twitter and news headlines. In a match at Fury Challenger, he went against Paul Garza. While having a 4-3 record, Garza proved to be a massive threat to Bollea.

In the clip that went viral, you can see that Garza’s strikes are too much for Bollea and he’s trying to get away from them. But just as he moves back, he gets hit by one of Garza’s left hooks and it lands cleanly as Bollea falls to the ground to end the match. While this was a ruthless way to go out, Bollea isn’t one to lose hope.

After the fight, he shared a clip from the post-fight with an inspiring caption about the MMA lifestyle. He wrote, “Martial arts will take you across the world, and it’s dope because there’s risk involved. We didn’t get the result we wanted tonight but I wouldn’t change the martial arts lifestyle for anything. I’m so grateful for it.

This just goes to show that like his uncle, Hulk Hogan, Bollea is also out there to make a name for himself and not just riding on Hogan’s coattails. While there will be many more matches to come in Bollea’s career, we hope that he’s able to get his uncle on his side. It could end with a great uncle-nephew pairing at the UFC which, as Bollea said in the YouTube video, sells tickets.
