AEW’s annual PPV ‘Forbidden Door’ took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The event saw 15,000 fans excited to see their favorite stars battle it out that night from AEW and NJPW.

The event was loaded with a lot of spectacular matches and top stars but the fans’ enthusiasm for a certain wrestler made tag-team legend Bully Ray believe that he should be the future of AEW.

While a lot of matches that night at Forbidden Door got the fans going crazy, one match, in particular, was testosterone loaded purely because of the number of participants. It was a 10-man tag team match between The Elite, Eddie Kingston, Tomohiro Ishii against the Blackpool Combat Club, Konosuke Takeshita, and Shota Umino.

Kingston’s side won the match effectively. But at one moment in the match, the fans went ballistic. That was when Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley entered the ring. Fans couldn’t control their emotions and this caught the attention of tag-team legend Bully Ray.

On the recent episode of the ‘Busted Open’ podcast, Bully Ray was all gung ho about Eddie Kingston from that night. He said, “I hope in between producing the show last night and scrolling through social media, that Tony took the time to take the headphones off and listen the people when it came Eddie Kingston. You had a boat load of talent out there last night, but 15,000 people were chanting for Eddie Kingston during that match. Eddie Kingston is your star Tony Khan,” He also added later, “He is real, he is as real as it gets.

Kingston has had quite some feuds in his AEW career ranging from Chris Jericho to Sammy Guevara. One prominent star he had a feud with is AEW’s former world champion CM Punk himself.

Eddie Kingston once had a major feud with CM Punk

Back in 2021, Eddie Kingston interrupted CM Punk during one of his promos and mocked him in front of the crowd. He openly challenged him to a fight at the Full Gear event.

This led to Punk asking the crowd who unanimously cheered for the match to happen. But while leaving the ring, Kingston told him to, “Quit again for 7 years and don’t come back”. That definitely angered Punk and so he head-butted him. That led to an open brawl and referees and wrestlers had to come out as both these men just wanted to destroy each other.
