If there is one thing that Cody Rhodes nails, it is building his biggest match. Despite his WrestleMania opponent being involved in the hottest storyline, Rhodes is making headlines with his segments without him. Just this past Monday Night Raw, Rhodes put on one of the best mic segments in the past few years with Paul Heyman.
The two went at each other with everything they had. Heyman even included Cody’s father into the mix. The segment ended when Heyman told Rhodes that his father wanted a son like Roman Reigns and not Rhodes.
This was something that shocked the wrestling world, as Dusty Rhodes is someone precious to the community. But after it aired, everyone praised this segment for its severity and for making this storyline feel as important as any other on the main roster. Also, this former WWE superstar and current AEW Star agree wholeheartedly.

AEW star praises Cody Rhodes and Paul Heyman for their fiction-reality blurring segment
On his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the host talked about the viral segment between Cody Rhodes and Paul Heyman. He said, “I thought it was very well done. I love how it blurred the line between reality and fiction. It was done very, very good. They took a different approach than I would guess most people would expect them to take, which I thought was a good thing. I thought both of their executions were masterful.”
Hardy has done similar segments where the line between fiction and reality was way too thin. His segments with his brother, Jeff Hardy, on TNA/Impact were some of the most gruesome and shocking to see.
His feuds with his brother were also some of the earliest versions of cinematic matches in wrestling. So, seeing another wrestler nail that same feeling in WWE must have made the former WWE tag team champion feel good in his heart.

With this segment, Rhodes has solidified that he is here to stay and grow even bigger. In a recent interview, the returned hero also said that WWE doesn’t need The Rock to make beautiful storylines have ultimate conclusions on the biggest stage of them all. While fans were sad to not see Sami Zayn go to WrestleMania, they are slowly but surely changing their outlook with the consistent performances by Rhodes.
