However, if you think this piece will talk about Johnson’s future plans in DCEU, then you are wrong! We will look over the first day’s record-breaking collection of Black Adam.
Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam earned big money on opening day
Black Adam was released worldwide on October 21st, 2022. Few countries got to witness the film earlier, while some nations saw it late due to time differences. Film critic Erik Davis shared a tweet highlighting Black Adam’s first-day collection.
Davis wrote, “BOX OFFICE: With $26.8M, #BlackAdam scores the best opening day ever for @TheRock in a starring role. If it finishes w/ $60M+, it will be the 2nd best opening ever for a solo DC movie that doesn’t star the core 4 (Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman), behind only #Joker.”

Black Adam marks the first movie which doesn’t have core DC superheroes, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, and Gal Gadot. Moreover, Henry Cavill shows up at the end for a 30-second post-credit scene in the movie. Clearly, this turned out an enormous boon for The Great One and the cast of the movie.

As of now, the top-grossing DCEU movie until now is Aquaman with $1.14 billion, Joker with $1.07 billion, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with $873 million, Wonder Woman with $821 million, and the recent movie The Batman with $770 million.

Also, other movies that do not follow the DCEU storyline are The Dark Knight Rises – $1.08 billion, and The Dark Knight – $1 billion. Surely, Johnson has a chance to become the top star here by bagging big numbers in its opening weekend.
Even though Black Adam earned $26.8 million, the early morning shows at many locations were empty.
