Dwayne Johnson brought Henry Cavill back to DCEU as Superman to Black Adam last year. There were rumors of The Teth Adam and Superman being seen in the same movie in the future. However, James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new plans for the studio made ‘The Brahma Bull’ leave DC. But now one of his WWE colleague, Dave Bautista, has expressed his desire to work in a new Superman movie.

Recently, in an interview with IndieWire WWE legend, Dave Bautista talked about playing the role of Lex Luthor in DCEU. Previously, he wanted to play Batman villain Bane, but now has no aspirations for the same.

He said, “I have to clear it up because there was some misunderstanding that James Gunn had turned me down for the part or didn’t want me for the part, and that’s not at all even close to the truth. We actually talked about Bane and my hopes for playing Bane long before he even took over DC Studios.”

The Animal added, “But someone mentioned something on Instagram I saw tonight, and they said, ‘Just hear me out, but Dave Bautista as Lex Luthor’ and I thought that was really interesting.”

Luthor is an arch-nemesis of the superhero Superman and has appeared in several DC movies until now. Surprising how a fan casting by a stand-up comic Chris Killian has changed Bautista’s mind to play Luthor over Bane. Moreover, several DC fans are also backing the same.

Another reason Dave Bautista doesn’t want to play Bane in DC

It is clear The Animal wants to make a DC debut now, as he will end his stint with MCU. He shared he might have a talk with Gunn, but will not play Bane for one reason, he said.

The Drax actor shared, “You know, I just turned 54 last week and playing Bane, I think they need to start with someone younger and someone fresher and someone who could physically, you know, take on that part.”

Bautista is a method actor and will take up a character he’d play for a long time in sequel movies. Hence, he doesn’t want to do injustice to Bane’s character and so he changed his mind. Furthermore, Gunn and Bautista are good friends as they have worked in MCU Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Bautista doesn’t want him to be compared with Dwayne Johnson and John Cena

In an interview with Tampa Bay Times, The Animal shared his view on The Rock and Cena. He talked about not liking people comparing him with Johnson and The Cenation Leader. Bautista said he was a wrestler and is now an actor full-time, not a movie star like his WWE colleagues.
