John Cena is currently a top name in Hollywood, having done several successful movies. In the previous year, he was a part of two huge movies i.e. F9 and The Suicide Squad. Due to his impressive performance in the latter, he got his own HBO series, The Peacemaker. 

Despite his recent success in the entertainment industry, ‘The Cenation Leader’ will always be a loyal ‘WWE guy’. Once, he shared how DC and WWE are similar in nature.

A year ago, in an interview with GQ, John Cena talked about WWE and his then-upcoming movie The Suicide Squad. Moreover, he shared about the similarity between WWE and DC.

Cena said, “The superhero universe, the DC universe, it has that universal appeal, very much like WWE. People around the world just like get it. So with the nature of the comic book, you don’t really have to read the caption of what’s going on. You can follow a comic and kind of get the story picture by picture. So it transcends language and it’s fascinating.”

WWE has always had a greater approach toward its fans, similar to the superhero movies. The storylines and characters help the fans to understand the product without much prior information. 

The Peacemaker actor has always been a loyal WWE superstar. Whenever he is out promoting any movie or other things, he makes sure to promote WWE. Cena is very much grateful to Vince McMahon and his company, which gave him fame. Similarly, DC’s Peacemaker character made him a much bigger star in Hollywood.

John Cena once talked about the importance of doing a superhero movie

In the current world of entertainment, superhero movies are making a huge buzz. Therefore, when Cena got a chance to do this genre, he quickly grabbed the opportunity. In the same interview, he shared the importance of the same.

The 16-time world champion said, “These people have magical, mystical powers through whatever circumstance gave them those powers, great narratives there, and you develop a cast of characters. The world likes this stuff and me trying to become a better performer on screen. These are positions you want to be in.”

He added, “If you get invited into a superhero universe, people are gonna see your work. That’s the end goal for every performer. You want to be seen and you want to give it your best shot. You want to be appreciated.”

Surely, working in The Suicide Squad gave him widespread recognition. Additionally, he also got his own Peacemaker series, which made him much more famous.
