One of those WWE superstars Road Dogg Jesse James recently opened up on the reason why he “didn’t like” The Rock. He claimed to have apologized to DJ for the same but says he had to take it upon himself to keep Johnson’s “feet on the ground”.

The reason Road Dogg was “jealous” of Dwayne Johnson

The DX Member has always been vocal about hating The Rock back in the late 90s. On the recent episode of Oh, You Didn’t Know #35: DX Turns Heel episode; he gave the reason why was such a case for him.

The WWE Hall of Famer said, “So Rock was the one that to me and it felt very important to me to keep his feet down on the ground. I did so because I was jealous of him and I didn’t like him and boo on you. He could cut a promo, he could wrestle, he looked great, and he’s the total package on the reel.”

The former 6-time Tag team champion added, “I wasn’t that, and so I was very jealous of him. And I’ve told him that and apologized since but it still doesn’t take away the fact that I took it upon myself to keep his feet on the ground. ‘And I did that with verbal abuse and potshots in the ring too, you know what I mean?”

Furthermore, James clarified, DJ knew every bit of the hatred Road Dogg had towards him. Moreover, The Rock would be prepared when he used to bash him in the ring.

This was not it when he got a tough time in WWE as back when DJ started his career, as Mark Henry once said, “Somebody Sh*t in His Food Box”.

Nevertheless, the current Senior VP of Live Events shared he will forever apologize to the 10-time world champion for this behavior.

He shared about wanting one thing while having a match with The Rock, i.e. being equal. He said, “I’m in the ring with you, dude, so you’re equal to me, you know what I mean?”

James said, “And look, and like I said, in retrospect, I see we’re not equal. We’re not equal as far as intellectual properties are concerned, you know what I mean?”

He added, “In the eyes of God, you and I are the same, but in the eyes of the consumer, of the almighty consumer we are not. And I understand that.”
