Dwayne Johnson promoted Black Adam as the movie that would change the course of DCEU. The Rock was sure of changing the hierarchy of the DC Universe worldwide and seemingly achieved it with a successful opening in the USA. However, the film saw sad news upon its release in Japan, with a rather underwhelming box office opening.

On Friday, December 2, 2022, Black Adam was finally released in Japan, i.e. the film’s final market. However, the movie didn’t earn the way DCEU and Dwayne Johnson thought it would.

As per The Direct, Black Adam earned a box office collection of $452 thousand on its opening day in Japan. It was the lowest opening for a DCEU movie until today in Japanese theaters.

Black Adam, which hit cinemas on October 21, 2022, had a good opening and earned a total amount of $378.3 million worldwide; $163.4 million of its earnings have come from North America.

After running unopposed initially, Black Adam faced some competition in its fourth week as the MCU released its new movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This film surprised the entire movie industry by making a box office collection of $330 million on its first weekend.
