Did John Cena Accidentally Let Slip His Future in James Gunn’s DCEU Amidst Henry Cavill’s Fallout During WWE Promo?

After The Suicide Squad hit the theatres, the Peacemaker character really went over the fans. John Cena, who plays the character, got mainstream success in comic book genre movies quickly. However, after the recent firing of Henry Cavill and James Gunn rebooting DC, many wondered about Cena’s future as Peacemaker.

Fortunately, there is nothing to worry about, Peacemaker’s future with DCEU. Cena will play the character for the foreseeable future in DCEU.

How did John Cena confirm his status as an active actor to play Peacemaker?

It was James Gunn who cast ‘The Cenation Leader’ as Peacemaker while directing the sequel of Suicide Squad. The DC Co-Ceo found Cena as the perfect actor for the role and it is safe to say the WWE legend nailed it.

However, while appearing on the recent WWE SmackDown episode, Cena confirmed his status as the Peacemaker actor. This happened when he read a kayfabe text from WWE superstar Kevin Owens. The Prizefighter greeted Cena in the text by writing “What’s up Peacemaker”.

Now, the entire world knows the promos in WWE are scripted. Moreover, in some cases, bullet points are provided to top stars. However, the promos featuring WWE superstar are based on real-life scenarios outside the ring. Hence, this is a major confirmation that Cena isn’t leaving DCEU as Peacemaker.

The DC fans currently have major concerns for the future of the studio and franchise. The recent news of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will need to take hiatus as Black Adam because of Gunn’s plans for the studios. Furthermore, Henry Cavill’s departure from DC has raised major concerns for several actors’ future in the franchise.

As a result, it is safe to say Gunn is optimistic about Cena as Peacemaker. After appearing in The Suicide Squad, the WWE legend got a standalone series on HBO. Moreover, there are talks for the 16-time world champion to have Peacemaker season 2.

Cena once recalled how James Gunn portrayed Peacemaker in his mind 

Gunn had to go through a lot of actors to find a suitable candidate for Peacemaker. However, he found the WWE star to be the one perfect for the role but had special instructions for the character.

Speaking with GQ earlier this year, Cena said, “So a couple of takes like that and then finally James is like, ‘No wait this isn’t what Peacemaker is. He is a douchy Captain America and that was it, it’s a wrap.”

‘Super-Cena’ nailed the role and made the character his own.
