Recently Dwayne Johnson shared a post revealing his future in DC. After reading the same, it is safe to say he might have parted ways with the studios for the time being.

But that won’t stop the WWE superstar turned actor to make top-notch movies in Hollywood. From Central Intelligence, Jumanji Franchise to Black Adam, The Rock has done banger movies.

After the fiasco with DCEU and Black Adam not moving forward with sequel anytime soon, The Rock is set to make one more major movie on the big screen.

Dwayne Johnson to reboot Zathura: A Space Adventure as Jumanji Franchise’s future

It is no doubt that franchise films dominate the current movie world. Similarly, The Rock who once called himself a “franchise Viagra” is rebooting a 2005 film Zathura. As per the exclusive report of Nathan Kamal from Giant Freakin Robot, this reboot film will connect to the Jumanji Franchise in the future.

Zathura is a film related to science fiction and space travel. Marvel star Jon Favreau directed the film, and it was released in 2005. Surprisingly, unlike Robin Williams’s Jumanji, which became a 90s classic, Zathura quickly vanished from the minds of the people.

After successfully rebooting Jumanji, Johnson took the franchise to a different level. However, with the third installment in talks for 2023, it seems The Rock has creative plans for the further story. It seems he wants to take the Jumanji plot to space from the Jungle.

The 1995 Jumanji earned $262 million worldwide at the box office. Subsequently, when DJ rebooted the same in 2017, Jumanji: Welcome Jungle earned $962 million worldwide. Furthermore, the 2019 sequel Jumanji: The Next Level made $801 million at the worldwide box office.

Nevertheless, Zathura: A Space Adventures didn’t make as Jumanji Franchise made. It made $65 million worldwide. It will be interesting to see what the WWE legend has in his bag as he plans to reboot one more film.

Why The Rock might be interested connecting Zathura and Jumanji?

One of the reasons why DJ might be interested in connecting Jumanji and Zathura is because they have the same writer. American author Chris Van Allsburg wrote the children’s book Zathura and also the original Jumanji (which was the base of Robin Williams’s 1995 film).

It is unclear how The Rock will connect both movies. Maybe Jumanji three will lay the foundation for the characters to go to space for their next mission. Hence, the Zathura storyline kicks in.
