WWE 2K24 is set to be the biggest wrestling game to release this year. After the success of WWE 2K23 last year, fans are excited about what the developers may bring to the game. The annual release has turned heads with every new version of the game. With an ever-expanding roster and many match types, every fan has something to look forward to. However, here are a few match types that should make a return to this year’s version of the game.

WWE 2K23 saw WarGames as a new match type, while the Royal Rumble supported online play. These features boosted the game in the eyes of the fanbase.

Three Stages of Hell: Although time-consuming, the fans loved this match. It featured in SmackDown Shut Your Mouth and WWE 2k15. However, in 2K15, it was only exclusive to Showcase mode. Die-hard fans of the WWE franchise have wished for it to return.

Casket Match: This match type appeared in WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your Role, WWE SmackDown! vs Raw 2006, WWE ’12, and WWE 2K15 Best Friends, Better Enemies. However, just like the Three Stages of Hell match, it only featured in 2K15’s Showcase mode. Adding this back would make fans leap in joy for all the iconic Undertaker matches they can recreate.

Inferno: The Inferno match featured for the first time in RAW 2009. It would be seen again in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011. After that, it wasn’t heard from. While this match type has been removed from the WWE product due to safety concerns, it would be a fun addition to the games.

Buried Alive: This iconic match type of the 2000s WWE was last seen in 2K16. However, like most 2K games, it was only available in Showcase mode. Before that, it was featured in the SmackDown vs. Raw series. With no disqualifications or countouts, this match type will be fun for hardcore gamers.

What we know so far

As of now, we have no concrete information. According to Mike Straw of Insider Gaming, there will be confirmed updates about the game around the Royal Rumble, which will be around January 29-30.
