The first thing fans discuss after the announcement of a new WWE 2K video game are the star ratings. The video game company 2K usually provides stars with ratings based on their current run. Though the game now has an option for players to edit wrestler attributes thanks to the 2K23 installment, fans might be a little disappointed with the OG ratings the company may give to John Cena for the next installment.

The primary reason why John Cena’s ratings might be affected in WWE 2K24

One of the main factors that might cause a dip in his ratings is that he has not won a singles match in the last five years. This might come as a shocker. Especially since as one of the most prominent stars of the promotion, The Leader of the Cenation has been nothing but a stepping stone for younger stars to move ahead in the company. While he did secure a win recently when he faced off against Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso of The Bloodline at the Fastlane Premium Live Event, it was a tag team match with LA Knight by his side.

Following Fastlane, Cena went off against Solo Sikoa at the Crown Jewel. There, he faced a ruthless defeat at the hands of the enforcer of The Bloodline. Sikoa delivered over ten Samoan Spikes to Cena before pinning him to secure the win. The loss was devastating for fans as they saw the Hollywood star particularly struggling against the Samoan wrestler. 

The last singles-televised win that Cena had was back in 2018. There he defeated Chief Content Officer of WWE, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, at the year’s Royal Rumble.

A losing streak might be a governing factor for his ratings to drop in the WWE 2K24 game, but it might not be the only reason for it.

John Cena might not be the ‘champion’ of WWE 2K24 anymore

John Cena had received a special showcase mode feature in the WWE 2K23 game. It was something which was due for the star as he happens to be a sixteen-time World Champion. But fans barely remember when the last time the Peacemaker star won a title. While his first win came back in 2005, his latest win was in 2017. Though, it is worth noting that since 2017, he has made numerous appearances on WWE and has participated in matches as well.

While many might argue that it is because he is not a full-time wrestler anymore, it is still a painful fact. The star, who was once the top babyface of the company for many years, has struggled to keep his head high inside the ring. The fact that he has not won a title in six years and a singles match in five is enough to affect his ratings in the game. While 2K did provide a way to change these stats in the 2023 installment, there are no reports on whether it will be available in WWE 2K24.
