Everybody is familiar with Dwayne Johnson’s love for football. Before becoming a star at WWE, the Hollywood star had a brief run as a defensive tackle for the Miami Hurricanes. However, after a career-threatening injury, he had to change his path. Years after the incident, Johnson is still working for the people involved with the game with his latest venture, United Football League. While he was out there trying to make an impact, he received an honor that he might have only dreamt of.

Dwayne Johnson gets inducted into the Hall of Fame

The Miami Hurricanes’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle shared a post congratulating The Brahma Bull for being inducted into the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame class of 2024. To this, Johnson replied with a heartfelt message to his former team by saying, “Thank you Fam. Life’s road is long, wild, and unpredictable.” He also stated that the core values and work ethics he had learned during his time with Miami Hurricanes have helped him in achieving this honor.

The Hall of Fame was established by the Superbowl Champions Jesse Sapolu and Ma’a Tanuvasa. After being established back in 2013, they have taken up the task of recognizing Polynesian talents, players, coaches, and contributors by honoring them for their work.

Currently, there are 44 inductees in the Hall of Fame. Johnson will be receiving this honor along with Miami Dolphins Quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa who will be receiving the Polynesian Pro Football Player of the Year Award.

Johnson will be receiving this honor weeks after he made a big decision for XFL. While many might be aware of it, the motivation behind it is something that very few fans know about.

What made Johnson establish UFL?

On January 1, 2024, Johnson along with business partner and ex-wife Dany Garcia announced the merger between XFL and already existing USFL. Together they will be forming the United Football League or UFL. While talking about this big step, the 51-year-old star revealed what made him make this decision.

He stated that the main motivation behind it is to help the game of football. Johnson stated that just like any other American, he loves the sport dearly. So, to help people involved with it, he decided to expand his league to provide opportunities to as many people as possible. While he thrives to make spring football a mainstay with the audience, he is trying to create a positive impact in the lives of the people involved in the game.
