Two of the greatest stars of WWE, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and John Cena came back to WWE once again. There was a time when both the stars had a heated feud. But recently on The Rock’s return a few weeks ago, both the stars were seen hugging each other. At the Fastlane 2023 press conference, John Cena commented on his rivalry with The Rock and how things have changed for him after all these years.

John Cena calls it his biggest mistake

Back when Dwayne Johnson made his way to Hollywood, John Cena had criticized him for leaving WWE to pursue an acting career. Opening up about his rivalry with The Brahma Bull, John Cena opened up about how things have changed after all these years. The 46-year-old star stated that he had publicly and personally apologized to Johnson for these particular remarks.

He said, ‘ I thought what I was trying to do was best for business, I went about it the wrong way, violated his trust” as he claimed he made allegations about the Hollywood star’s perspective without any knowledge of it. He further added, “ Deep down I was a fan, I wanted The Rock back, but I did it the wrong way. I didn’t do it in a respectful way.” Further on he added that he has experienced growth personally and that has changed his mindset. He also said that he had apologized to him on multiple occasions and that was, “a very humbling experience” for the star. He concluded by saying that it was a great experience learning from his mistake.

A lot of fans wondering that an all-out brawl will start after the two stars meet each other. But instead of that, fans got to see both the stars hug each other which became a viral moment. Cena had the opportunity to welcome Johnson back at WWE. It was to rectify his mistake from 2011 when he decided to start a rivalry with him instead of welcoming him. In an interview with WWE’s The Bump, the 46-year-old star also said that apart from welcoming him, he also had the opportunity to personally apologize to Johnson for his remarks in the past.

Back in 2022, John Cena made his first-ever comment on how he felt criticizing Dwayne Johnson. He had admitted that his comments came from a time when he was less experienced. He had stated that after becoming a part of Hollywood, things have changed for him and now he understands Johnson’s perspective.
